READY TO GO

2 Days to go before we are off to Chile. Preparations have gone well and we think/believe/hope that we are geared up for the trip. Dawid reported today that min temp in Puerto Natales was 1 deg C. Little cooler than what we are used to and definitely warranting a re-think on the thermal clothing! With a chill factor the morning trips will probably the coldest that we have experienced.

Thanks to Ian Trotter, who has very kindly sent us a map (from his most recent trip), we have completed our route planing; a total of approx 2 800 km over eight riding days. Only time will tell if we will miss out on some of the most exquisite scenery in the world if the programme turns out to be tight but one thing is certain: we will make the most of it!

Another invidual who has made invaluable inputs by way of practical hints and advice is Eric Lange. Thanks Eric, we will give you feedback once we are back. I hope that you will be succesful with your venture in South America.

We start riding in Osorno on Tuesday, 14 December. The average distance per day is approx 350km.

We have made a couple of reservations (Santiago, Osorno and Punta Arenas) and will do the rest when we are in Chile.

  2. Daav - mis jou baie en hoop jul geniet ALLES, Die kos, die weer en die hele ondervinding. Alles gaan goed hier en laat asb. weet en plaas asb. meer foto's. Kan nie wag om die fietse te sien nie. Love you!

  3. Hi!! Lyk my alles verloop nog goed. Die fietse lyk great. Julle lyk eintlik 'n bietjie te welaf in die foto's. Julle moet eers 'n aand in daardie tentjie spandeer, dit sal 'n storie wees om te vertel! Keep up the blog entries, en nog foto's!!
